Mission Statement
It is the Mission of Lincoln Elementary to provide a safe and nurturing environment where community, family and school members are involved and dedicated to helping every student work to become a life long learner. As students work to become effective communicators, problem solvers and critical thinkers, their success will be celebrated.
Swimming Program
The Ellensburg School District Swimming Program for First and Third Grade is suspended until further notice due to the conditions at the City Pool.
Reading Fair and Art Show
The Reading Fair will be held at Lincoln on Wednesday, May 4th.  The event will take place from 5-7pm in the Lincoln gym.  In addition, art will be displayed in the hallway and gym with our own Lincoln Students!!!!
READING Projects should be set up after school on May 4th between 3:00 and 4:00 and picked up on May 5th (Thursday) right after school."

Nominations
Referrals for the district’s elementary Highly Capable programs, Discovery & Challenge should have been turned in by April 8th.
Referrals will be screened, and permission to test forms, along with the parent and teacher surveys, will be sent out if the student meets the screening criteria. The Cognitive Abilities Test and the Iowa Test of Basic Skills are the assessments used, along with teacher and parent surveys. Remember that no multiple choice test is perfect, and your child may have gifts that are hard to identify on a test! The CogAT is, however, one of the best and most current tests available. Please check the district’s website for additional information about the curriculum, policies, and procedures. (Policies and procedures are 2190 and 2190p, under Learning Programs and Supports.)

Kindergarten registration was April 6 and April 7.

Kindergarten registration is for children entering kindergarten in September of 2016.  Students must be five (5) years old by August 31, 2016, to register.  The district will not be accepting early entrance kindergarten registrations.

A Certified Birth Certificate is required to register your child for kindergarten.  Because school records are considered legal documents, all students enrolling in the Ellensburg School District must be enrolled by their LEGAL first and last names.  Washington State Birth Certificates are available for purchase ($20.00) through the Public Health Department (962-7515).  For out-of-state birth certificates contact that State’s Vital Records Department.

Your child’s Immunization Record is also required to register your child.  Kindergarten students need to have a Certificate of Immunization form filled out with all required immunizations by the first day of school or an exemption form signed.  If they do not have all required immunizations, they will be admitted to school on a conditional basis and parents have 30 days from the first day of school to complete their immunizations or have an exemption signed by a doctor.  If immunizations are not up to date or an exemption is not signed at the end of the 30 days, the student will be excluded from school. Keep in mind, if there is a communicable disease outbreak, students with an exemption will not be allowed to attend school for the incubation period (example: pertussis (whooping cough) = 21 days).

If you have not registered your child for kindergarten, you may pick up kindergarten registration packets at any elementary school after April 15, 2016.
